The QupZilla team is open to suggestions and thoughts on the proposed new logos and what is presented above and on Adrien’s blog remain under development.įeel free to share your own stab at a new icon idea in the comments below. The good news for existing and potential users of the browser is that no final decision on a new icon has yet been taken. Like I said earlier: not an easy balance to strike. QupZilla needs to make a statement with any new design, but not stray too far from colloquial metaphors or symbolism. It ticks all the right signifiers: an ice-blue globe (shorthand for ‘internet’ and why most web-browser icons tend to be round) in front of a dynamic starburst (visual shorthand for ‘speed, power’, etc).Ī quick google for a ‘generic browser logo’ presents a sea of similar iconography. Subject: qupzilla: New upstream release 2.0.1 Date: Fri, 15:45:56 +0800 Package: qupzilla Version: 1.8.9dfsg1-3 Severity: wishlist Hello, The new 2.0 release has changed to QtWebEngine. QupZilla has a decent logo - on paper at least. QupZilla is actively maintained, and the developer recently announced that QupZilla will be moving to KDE and changing its name to Falkon. It should also be distinct and recognisable. Kannolo does not include software that requires GTK+ (Firefox, Anaconda, firewall-config, ABRT), featuring KDE or Qt software (QupZilla, Calamares, UFW-KDE, DrKonqi) instead. Don’t believe me? Ask yourself how often you scroll past apps with bad icons in the App Store or Google Play!īut looking well designed and being well designed are not the same thing.Ī decent app icon should convey the purpose of the app from the moment you see it. Thank you for the additional information you have supplied regarding this Bug report. I think someone on an old (but still usable) Windows XP computer with 1GB or less RAM could benefit from using QupZilla/QupZilla Portable due to it using less memory. But are these drafts the right fit for QupZilla? A Bad Icon Is A Bug Qupzilla 1.8.9 is already available in the 16.04 repos, so sudo apt install qupzilla will give you the same version, but which lags far behind the latest 2.2. Edit: It certainly uses a hell of allot less memory compared to Firefox, and especially Chrome/Chromium based browsers. ![]()
