We’ve covered quite a number of custom KSP controllers here at Hackaday. He also went through the expense of having the panel and case professionally laser cut and etched, which definitely gives it a polished feel. That’s an extra step that isn’t strictly required for a build like this, but once you see it, you’re going to have a hard time not wanting to include it on your own panel. went with a fairly general purpose panel, but did spend quite a bit of extra time to get some slick LED bar graphs hooked up to display resource levels of different systems on his craft. There’s a whole lot of things you can build in KSP, and the layout, inputs, and displays on your controller should ideally reflect your play style. Are you looking to fly planes? Control a rover? Maybe you just want a master control panel for your space station. The first step in building your own KSP controller is deciding what you want it to do. Once the logistics of how you’ll talk to the game are settled, the rest is really up to the individual. For his controller, forked KSPSerialIO, a plugin for KSP that allows bidirectional communication between the game and your controller, enabling things like digital readouts of speed and fuel levels on the controller’s panel. This works fine up to a point, but is limited because it’s only a one-way method of communication. Wiring switches and buttons to the Arduino.Īt the most basic level, building a KSP controller consists of hooking a bunch of switches and buttons to a microcontroller such as the Arduino or Teensy, and converting those to USB HID key presses that the game understands. Luckily for us, he’s written up an exceptionally well detailed guide on building KSP controllers that should prove useful even if you don’t want to clone his. If you want the ultimate KSP control setup, you’ll need to follow in the footsteps of and build your own. You really want a joystick and throttle at the absolute minimum for accurate maneuvers, but even you’ll be spending plenty of time back on the keyboard to operate the craft’s various systems. Right now you need to focus on getting those rockets built and establishing a network of communication satellites so you can get out of low orbit.įor those of you who’ve played the game (or are joining us again after playing KSP for the prescribed 10, 12, 16 hours), you’ll know that the humble computer keyboard is not very well suited to jaunts through space. Don’t worry, Hackaday will still be here when you get back. If you haven’t, then you should set aside about ten hours today to go check that out real quick. If you have even the most passing interest in space and what it takes to get there, you’ve probably already played Kerbal Space Program (KSP).

So the AV installer tries to sell speakers and other gear that they can make a margin on. I guess because they think they can do it themselves. Consumers are often reluctant to just pay the cost of the install, the way they would with an electrician or a plumber. That means they don't have to compete with Amazon or Best Buy, and can make enough money to cover the complexities of the install. Though lots of people say they do, but really don't, or won't pay for it.įor the installer, they are a line that is not typically available to consumers directly, although that is changing. They also offer a full line of speakers, and seem likely to be around forever, which means service, repair, replacement, additional speakers, etc. (Though I also wouldn't have bought them for myself, but then I am really difficult to please, especially when I'm spending money.)įor the homeowner, they can offer good sound and build quality, if you choose the right speakers. I wouldn't have used them if I didn't think they were good speakers. Like most companies, they make some good products and some less good products. Sidney Barrowclough and the Payton brothers, Ralph and Wilfrid, were younger than Tolkien and continued it for some time after they left. The friends continued to stay in contact with each other's literary work until 1916. The core members were considered to be the "big four" of Tolkien, Geoffrey Bache Smith, Christopher Wiseman, and Robert Gilson. Tolkien and his friends at King Edward's School in Birmingham met regularly at the Barrow Stores, which is where T.C.B.S. is an acronym for Tea Club, Barrovian Society. In his first year of service he took part in the Battle of the Somme, one of the bloodiest battles in human history, where more than 1 million men were killed or wounded, including many of Tolkien’s friends. Tolkien stayed in touch with Gilson, Bache Smith, and Wiseman throughout the years. The young men formed the Tea Club and Barrovian Society (“T.C.B.S.” for short) because the young men enjoyed drinking tea in, among other places, the school library in secret. While studying at King Edward’s School in 1911, Tolkien met Rob Gilson, Geoffrey Bache Smith, and Christopher Wiseman. In this biographical study, drawn in part from Tolkien’s personal wartime papers, John Garth traces the development of the author’s work during this critical period. All the while, he was hard at work on an original mythology that would become the basis of his literary masterpiece, the Lord of the Rings trilogy. After finishing his degree, Tolkien experienced the horrors of the Great War as a signal officer in the Battle of the Somme, where two of those school friends died. The way you draw your ENSO is, as you can imagine, hugely personal. It can also indicate that you admire, respect or aspire to certain aspects of the philosophy. For this reason, it’s believed that only a true Zen master who’s achieved satori can draw a perfect (not mathematically perfect) ENSO.Īn ENSO tattoo, first and foremost, typically identifies the wearer as a practitioner of Zen Buddhism. The imperfections are to be valued, and the way in which it is drawn is believed to reflect a practitioners’ own current state of enlightenment. The circle can be left open, indicating room to grow, or closed, symbolizing a state of pure enlightenment, whether current or something the practitioner aspires to achieve.ĮNSO circles are first meditated upon, then drawn – traditionally with ink, brush and washi paper – in a single stroke. The ENSO is a meditative tool, as well as a way to gauge one’s own enlightenment from day to day. Those truly enlightened are though to be above mortal coils such as culture or morality.Īchieving this state is achieved through, among others, meditation. The ultimate goal is satori, a Japanese word meaning enlightenment. Zen Buddhism in places heavy emphasis on meditation. It is a lifestyle or philosophy, not a religion. This practice, now most commonly associated with Japan, was originally brought to China by an Indian monk. In order to understand ENSO, it’s first important to understand Zen Buddhism. Consider koi fish, traditional artwork and Japanese language characters. Since Zen Buddhism is associated with and primarily practiced today in Japan, it only makes sense to add a few Japanese-inspired elements to your ENSO tattoo. If you want to quietly pay homage to your philosophy, feel free to put your new artwork in a spot that’s easily covered by clothing. On the not-so-traditional side, the ENSO also happens to be a symbol which looks exceptionally cool when done in minimalist style! ENSO tattoo placement is critical when minimalist design is involved – if you want to show off, consider a prominent spot. There are many who would say that a minimalist ENSO tattoo is the most historically faithful way to go. It ’ s true that Zen is all about minimalism, favoring personal, internal growth over “things.” Due to this philosophy, those who want to stick close to the roots of the ENSO will find a minimalist approach to be a very accurate choice. ENSO tattoo chest placements face the same issues. If your shoulder tattoo will extend over your collarbone, keep in mind that tattoos on skin close to the bone can be more painful than others in meatier areas. The most important aspect is what it means to you. Shoulder ENSOs can be large or small, blackwork or loaded with color. It can symbolize the ENSO being close to your heart, or it might just be a great, visible way to show off your new ink. NSO tattoo shoulder placement is very bold. You might also choose a color with more modern meanings, such as red for power or blue for serenity, or draw on color element significance, including wood, earth, fire, air, metal and water. In Buddhism, the colors blue, white, red, green and yellow all correspond to a specific Buddha – pick the one which resonates with you. You may also choose a color which is important to you. You might choose a colorful background design to bring your ancient symbol into the modern world, such as watercolor. Color ENSO TattoosĪlthough typical Japanese cal l igraphy brushstrokes were black, there’s no need to shy away from color. Stay true to your own beliefs while respecting others of the same philosophy – it can be tricky, but it can always be done! 2. While your tattoo is yours and yours alone, keep in mind that some would find it disrespectful to include a silly, cartoonish image alongside one as revered as the ENSO. Be sure to find a tattooist skilled in bold lines and, if possible, the recreation of brushwork. Although the ENSO itself is a relatively simple shape, its execution – on paper or skin – are paramount to its meeting. However you choose to go about customizing your tattoo, remember that technique matters. You might choose to incorporate a design into the ENSO itself, or simply embellish the background. For this reason, they’re ideal places to showcase other images which mean a lot to you. ENSO tattoos represent a great deal about you and how you see the world. Again, since the patio could not be square, he had to hand cut a lot of stones and the design is exquisite and flawless! It’s not always easy to imagine what a design will ultimately look like from small samples of materials and drawings. The pavers are a whole other piece of artistic excellence that Juan created for our patio. The craftsmanship was first class! Hugo and Gilberto, who constructed the cover, had to work in the rain and did an amazing and thorough job, working from an expert design drawn by John, but one that also required some adaptation to the quirky space on the spot. The way they attached the beams to the house and the custom cut edging made it look perfectly even and normal. The design of the patio covering was totally custom made as our yard nor the house was square or even. My husband and I were both so impressed with how quickly and expertly the project was done. Now we love lounging under our patio covering – the transformation was amazing! Probably one of the biggest hits to mages since this alliance was introduced. Removing Lina removes your quick and early four Knight two Troll. Most people didn’t play Knights that often because of the jail system being a broken mechanic without much work put into it usually caused CK, Lina, or Abaddon being removed six out of seven days of the week. Removing Lina is a huge hit to Knights as well. This is a huge upset for Scrappy Inventor builds. Chain Reaction used to be an item and then got replaced in “The Big Update” by giving Techies the ability and has now been removed from the game. A lot of people would remove Bounty Hunter when a Techies showed up because not only did he complete your four Inventors and give you a six Scrappy, he gave all your Inventors chain reaction. Inventor was hit hard with correspondence to the Scrappy alliance as well. Loosing this hero is a huge hit to this alliance. Her ability wasn’t that great but her fast attack speed made it completely viable to throw a Gloves of Haste, Moonshard, Maelstrom, Eye of Skadi, Bloodthorn or even a Divine Rapier. Windrunner was always a commonly used Hunter. The removal of Luna made not only destroyed the Mage alliance but the ability to now find two other Human heroes for the four human mana regeneration much harder. Shadow Shaman is much more of a pickable option for the crowd control that this hero offers as the heal from Enchantress is not that impactful. Viper was made more of his role in my opinion and gives Assassins a very viable front line with DK to stand right beside him.ĭruid was hurt this patch but instead gave you another viable option for a tier one hero by giving you Shadow Shaman and Enchantress. Puck was removed and Viper was reworked making Snapfire a more viable pick for the alliance if you choose to pair them. This hero is a tad harder to find with the tier being changed from narrow pool of three star into a larger pool of two star heroes.ĭeadeye is a niche alliance but now with a change to inventor might be more popular to mix with Bloodseeker and/or Sniper. Wasn’t hurt in any aspect as a Hero/Alliance but was made cheaper. Two and Four Brute is still viable if you choose to go that route. However it is strange that a hero that was just added with “The Big Update” is now removed a month later. This alliance has not been as popular since the Blood-Bound nerf giving the bonus to a random unit but overall, wasn’t hurt.Īnother alliance that wasn’t hurt one bit.īrute was not changed but removing a hero didn’t really change much either. The item to give you more only lost health. Surprisingly wasn’t touched as an alliance. Six is still very viable however as your five cost, Faceless Void, is not a requirement but just a benefit. Granted there are still two one gold heroes left and getting a quick three alliance is still viable, but Slark has been moved to a four cost and MOM got nerfed from 25% lifesteal to 15% lifesteal. This now leaves seven Assassins left and your quick round one pick is now narrowed down dramatically. All three were Assassin a great pair but with removal of elusive they were all three still a great set of heroes. So in this update we removed three Assassins. Starting with the removed heroes in order. The abbreviations are also made to usually not find other words for quick searching. Terminology for quick finding your alliance. It made many of the most popular alliances unobtainable now causing you to run most of the game with a four alliance with a rare possibility of ever getting your six alliance, again, based on rng. It did however make many alliances not come online till turn twenty or higher, give or take five rounds depending on rng. This update didn’t actually break a single remaining alliance. So what was actually broken with this update. Major Item Overhaul removing many items, usually worthless, and adding over 15 new items.
